Earlier last week, it was announced that registered members of the SWTOR community could sign up to test SWTOR. The entire site thus crashed due to an overwhelming influx of fans attempting to sign up for the testing.

Here is what we know:

Prospective testers must be at least 18 years old (We’ll see how many teenies figure out how to wriggle past that rule). The testing will occur several phases, starting with small, focused test groups and gradually expanding.

There are undoubtedly many reasons community members are being called to test the game., among those the testing of system specs. Community members will be expected to test responsibly and give constructive feedback.

What is interesting to note is that BioWare has never once used the term ‘beta’ in referring to the testing of the game. It is quite possible that players will be testing the game while still in the alpha phase of development. In this instance, One could venture a guess that alpha tests would be utilized to test how well certain mechanics work and how well players respond to them.

BioWare takes its community seriously. Perhaps more so than many other MMO developers. It is then necessary reciprocate and take your prospective testing experience seriously. The more constructive the feedback is, the greater the game will become. Enjoy!
