Bioware Unveils “Conflict Rising” Trailer

In conjunction with the news of the next Digital Expansion “Galactic Starfighter“, Bioware has also unveiled their newest video trailer! Personally, I think this looks pretty awesome, and I cannot wait to get my hands on the controls of a starship and start engaging in dogfights.

About Apostrophe

We already have enough youth, what we really need now is a Fountain of Smart.

  1. I realize it’s early and my stance on this could change, but this looks fricken awesome. I’m no PvP’er and haven’t ever tried my hand at PvP’ing in this game (or any other game for that matter), but if this turns out to be as awesome as this looks, then I will be a space PvP’er! I am so very excited to see and read about the details that have yet to be revealed about this in the coming weeks! I am also happy to see PvP getting some much needed attention. Better and more variety of PvP = more players, which in turn = more $, which in turn = more content for both PvP and PvE (the one aspect I care most about). Hopefully, (fingers crossed) this turns out well for BW. Would hate to see what would happen if it’s a flop.

  2. I get why a lot of people don’t like PvP. It can be VERY frustrating when you are getting dominated/roflstomped by a pre-made, and can be ragequit inducing.

Personally, I LOVE PvP, even though I am primarily a PvE’er for the majority of my gameplay. That said, I did grind a full set of augmented Conqueror for my Operative and I am about to hit Valor 60, and she’s only been 55 for 3 weeks… SO obviously I am enjoying myself, in spite of the sometimes frequent facestompings.

That said…. I am also VERY excited about the concept of 12v12 space combat. I have to imagine, with that many people in a “warzone” that the playing field will be a little more balanced, and no single player, or small group of “premades” will be able to ruin the fun. Maybe. It will depend on if Bioware lets 12-man operations group participate, or if it’s solo-queue, or maybe 4-man group? I really don’t know, but I am anxiously waiting to find out.

I also really hope that they incorporate this same sort of direction into the existing (or maybe revamped?) PvE space combat. The current space combat (on rails) in the game has always been pretty lackluster for me, and I’ve not done it at all since the first time I tried and hated it almost 2 years ago. On a night when I log into the game, and my guild isn’t raiding, and I don’t really want to do dailies, having the option to “Fly around in my ship doing missions” without the pressure/intensity of PvP would be really nice.

I feel like a broken record at this point, but I can’t say enough… while I AM pretty excited about this, I’m taking it with a grain of salt, until we get some more information from Bioware about what the scope of the expansion as a whole will be.

Which raises another question…. Is this 2.5? Is this the patch that’s bringing the class balancing that’s been talked about in all of the Class Representative Questions/Answers? Is this going to bring Nightmare versions of Dread Fortress and Dread Palace?

2.4 released last week… which puts the “early access” date for Galactic Starfighter/Conflct Rising exactly 2 months (roughly 8 weeks) from 2.4. However, the actual release date is January 14th, which is another 6 weeks out…. So, I wonder if they are basing their content release schedule on the Early Access date? or the January release date? If so, does that mean that unless the class balancing comes in a patch between now and December 3rd or ON that date, it could be 14 weeks between now and class balancing?

  3. As someone who is a super casual player and I mean LOGS IN ONCE EVERY 2 WEEKS TO PLAY im excited about this even if it is pvp. I still remain subscribed cause i love the game so i cant wait.
