You Thought I Would Bring Exciting, On-Time News to You…[But You Were Deceived]

So, I originally had decided against posting news for this event, but Samm made a sad-face my way, and I felt the tears swelling in my heart…so here I am! It’s late, and it’s completely an exciting bring about by Bioware (though not really surprising): TATOOINE BABY! Or is it “TATOOINE, BABY!”? Well, one sounds like the child of a planet…oh well. As exciting as a planet creating offspring is (I think that one Transformer in the old days, Unicron, could create it’s own offspring…and it was kind of a planet), it’s not the news. TO THE NEWS!
Alright, I’ll start this off first with the basic information given to us, and I’ll try and make some schemes on just what might come out of it. So, the “Over View” of the planet goes on to state that this place has long-since been abandoned by the Czerka Corporation, of whom apparently (and conveniently) up and abandoned a secret, very dastardly weapons experimentation lab and raced away from this planet for no real given reason. When they further go on to talk about what Czerka Corp had been dealing with, they basically give the whole “We’re going to be omniscient and mysterious with how we give you news, and hint at something that’s big but actually tell you nothing other than ‘it’s big’. Instead of using a few words, though…we’ll use 346.”
So all we can really get out of the cold hard facts would be that there are two “settlements” (a.k.a. Towns), one for the Empire, and one for apparently both Empire and Republic (as they never said it’s specifically allocated to any one faction, just a place where Republic ships occasionally stop by). You can also take a look at the matter that they again mention Republic SHIPS, again provoking the thought that flight and possibly space are included in the game…that, or at least hinting that our “home” will be our ship, from planet to planet.
Now for the screenshots…another cold, hard fact we can assume is cold hard fact: Jawas. There are screen shots, so they’re certainly in the game. What can you do with them? There’s no info on just WHAT they’re there for, but I’m guessing they’ll be a intricate part of your story. Especially since the Empire apparently kicked them out of their own little trade-center. With that in mind, it’s entirely possible this planet may be used for some epic PvP action…just how, I can’t say, but it’s entirely possible. Entirely. Possible. Yes. Another jewel for your eyes is that there IS a Sarlacc pit! For those of you who want to be a Bounty Hunter, dress up JUST like Boba Fett, and “fall” in time and time again…your dreams can now come true
Lastly, we have all this talk of some “big” trouble under the sands (I’m assuming at the weapon facility Bioware decided to emphasize VERY heavily in this post), something the Czerka Corp created/ran into and just wasn’t very happy with…There are boundless possibilities, could it be an assassin droid going by HK-47? Could it be a Krayt Dragon? Perhaps a Sarlacc out of it’s pit and with legs?! Or perhaps a Giant Tusken Raider? One could only dream…I do believe that this piece of story will likely at least be a flashpoint, if not some form of early raid that we get to delve into.
To leave this off, I’ll translate the few little Aurubesh things we get…they’re not exciting:
To the left of the rotating planet: “Czerka Lab Abandoned Beneath the Sands.”
To the right of the rotating planet: (Despite my best effort in trying to read it, here’s how it came out)”Blue Rilk.” Or “Blu, Erilk.”
Under “Tatooine”: “Middle of Nowhere.”
Nothing super-dooper amazing, but the “Blue Rilk” one peeks an interest…pretend Bioware is Lassy, and you’re trying to understand just what the dog is saying. For all we know, it could actually say “Blue fell in the Sarlacc again.”
If you find yourself out in the desert and a Tusken Raider gives you an ice cream cone…it’s a bomb.
He’s there to deceive.
