Happy Friday to everyone! This week we got a lore update in the form of another timeline. I am not surprised to see that this timeline talks a bit about the Sith and specifically the Sith Purebloods. It is good timing following the little bits of controversy over that from the recent inhabitants update. This is one of the longest timelines we have had in quite some time. More after the break.
First, the official description from BioWare:
BTC 1251 – Following the destruction of their ancient civilization on Korriban, the Sith exiles sought to rebuild their Empire amid the jungles of Dromund Kaas. The man who eventually earned the distinction of the being the Empire’s first new Grand Moff, Odile Vaiken, emerged as a critical figure in these dark years. While the Emperor and the Sith Dark Council were preoccupied with long-term strategies, Vaiken recruited non-Force users to form the new Imperial Military. This nascent but efficient army courageously battled the powerful native creatures on Dromund Kaas to carve out the space for a secure civilization. In later years, as the new Sith Empire grew in size and strength, Vaiken went on to establish the foundation for the modern Imperial navy and set the standards for constructing a fleet that would one day emerge from exile and crush the Republic. For common Imperial citizens, Vaiken became a model for their highest aspirations, proving that even non-Force users would play a vital role in restoring the Sith Empire to prominence and power.
Now just a few things I was able to take from the video:
- BioWare made a clear distinction between the True Sith and the Dark Jedi, who claimed to be True Sith but in fact were not. The race was already extinct.
- The story of Grand Moff Odile Vaiken shows how a non-force user can rise to greatness. Something we can certainly expect to see in all 8 classes stories.
- We learn that Odile created the powerful Sith Navy which still exists “today”. We also know that his plans and his legacy still live in. I expect we will see more than one reference to him in the game. The most obvious being on Dromund Kaas.
- We learn of the initial plans of the Emperor and the founding of Dromund Kaas.
Unlike most of the Timeline’s I truly felt that this one was purely a lore update with little game information to be taken from it. Still an enjoyable update nonetheless.
