Episode 135 - Not Zombies

No show notes again this week.  We'll start forming them again next week.

BTW Rakghouls are werewolves

BTW Rakghouls are werewolves not zombies..... :D

Dr. Lokin could be considered

Dr. Lokin could be considered a Warewolf!

The other Rhakgouls, though, are pretty-much mindless infected. And while they're not dead, they could technically be considered zombies in most every other classification.

Yeah definitely not Zombies.

Yeah definitely not Zombies.

Besides, Rakghouls have been in the lore forever. Its just stupid some think this is something new they are doing just to generate hype. Its understandable not everyone played Kotor 1 or 2 but damn get informed.

Grenades and Social Points

The Grenades issue is more than just the burst, They also have a nice AOE stun that can be clutch in Huttball. Also, importantly, the Purple reusable grenades were Bind on Pickup, but did not require the skill in Cybertech to use. Once you crafted them you could drop Cybertech and grind up Biochem for the Purple reusable better than normal Stims, and then drop that and Grind up...oh I dunno, something else...or any of the other Crew Skills good? Slicing...no nerfed that...I dunno, I'm sure something else doesn't suck. Anyway, they are fixing that part of it too, to use the max level reusable items you will need to have the appropriate skill.

The issue with Social Points in Heroics is caused by the quest. You also don't get Dark/Light points, or Companion rep (if you have a  companion with you) bug report it in game so that it is addressed...or they may say "Working as intended." But it would be nice to get a response on it.

Great show this week guys! Nice pick on the background.

Tips of the Week

I really like tips of the week.

Could you guys make a forum thread of these or something on the main page? It would be great for people just exploring the non-official website to stay and return for more info.

I believe we could absolutely

I believe we could absolutely do that.  JJ has a thread floating around somewhere.  Maybe we can make that a front page item and have it randomly display.  Thanks for the idea.

Crafting tip...

4 Samm, you crafting fiend,

If you don't like the missions you currently have you can refresh the list by zoning.  Literally stand next to a zone point and go in and out and every time the load screen pops you'll have a new list of missions.

Thanks for the tip Syn

Thanks for the tip Syn problem is, my current load times suck.

"You are-a making me SO mad!"

I don't think grenades are were over powered. The highest damaging grenade I had (a re-usable Wynz-Tek) dealt only "~1800 - 2400" kinetic damage. Though each time I used it, it only "crits" (read: yellow number) for 2000 damage. Even though they could damage 6 people in a very tiny area (4m I believe), that's still only (2000*6=12000) 12k damage every 5 minutes. In perspective, that's only 40dps (although, 40/6=6.67dps).

The only use I had for it was the area snare it provided.

"No, you see, that's SWG and that's what ruined the game. Everybody was in space." - Samm, 49:00

Samm, I am disappointed. And angry.

I could give you so many reasons why that is a wrong statement. Instead, I'll wait to hear your reasoning why it was space that killed SWG instead of, say, the Jedi grinds or the combat game changes.

I agree; I never used the

I agree; I never used the grenades so much for damage as I did for keeping someone away from a ball carrier or whatever. It was too inefficient a cooldown to properly use during a flashpoint, and they could probably have their use in an Operation during a boss fight. But as far as PvP goes, where I feel they're pretty-much intended to be used...their damage wasn't OP, and pretty-much all of my attacks as an Operative did more damage than the two I've made (Cryo-Shock and Sludge Applicator). Either way, just seemed like an unnecessary nerf. Using them now, they crit for your mentioned 2k damage...which I've used to finish off someone in a crowd because TOR targetting sucks balls. But that's about it.

Well you see, if it weren't

Well you see, if it weren't for space being added to the game and so freely open for people it could have been redirected to the game to bring back the sandbox MMO that SWG once was.

After space was added most people were flying around in space doing whatever it was that you could do up there instead of being on the world.

I also understand that the Combat Patch ruined the game (similar to the Rise of the Empire patch for SWTOR can do if they don't chop chop on that fix.)

Yeah, a LOT of people are in

Yeah, a LOT of people are in a fire rage on the whole Ilum change...everything else has been dandy (minus the random loading screens), even the Warzones are better it seems. But for guilds like my own, where PvP is pretty-much the focus, Ilum not working and some people getting 60+ valor because of the exploit, it's creating quite a huge crap hole for people who couldn't sit there with 2 FPS farming at the Republic base.

I'm hoping they use the metrics to properly detract that valor from people's rank, as it's not only an exploit of an unintended system (as far as I'm aware), but it created a huge ditch between those who didn't do that, and those who did for the brief 8-9 hour period in which it could happen. Granted, some folks would be pissed off that they lose their cheaply attained valor, but I think more would be upset that such a disparity was permitted to continue existing because of a poor design choice that existed for less than half a day.

Except that is entirely

Except that is entirely untrue. The whole space fad lasted for a month or two before 80-90% of the population of the entire game went back to ground pounding. The thing is that it was the Jedi/grind to Jedi that started the death. I went from doing the Corvette weekly to doing it maybe a couple of times a year. Everyone went to go grind for Jedi, leaving no one left for space or the rest of the content (source: personal experience in '04). Even then, things calmed down a tad before the CU hit (which, despite popular opinion wasn't that bad).

Slightly before, but mostly the CU is when the new way to get Jedi was released (introduction of Aurilla Village and badges used to obtain access). With this, it brought on the Village Grinds which is where everyone went to try to obtain Jedi.

It was the introduce of the alpha-class Jedi that killed the populations, not space. Space was always the least popular out of any system pre/post CU/NGE.

-------------

Also, after using my grenades today I've noticed that the highest damage I can get is only 750 damage. I have no reason to even use it now. It didn't deserve this nerf.
