I would love for some insite on my new build. I am trying to buy everything from newegg as my lovely fiance got me a decent sized gift card from there over Christmas.
I'm doing a full build case and all. I believe I am going to try to snag an antec case for this build. My goal is stay around a grand. And keep in mind that I am against ATI, its one of those things where they have failed me way to many times.

I have one that I have been looking at buying. It is a low cost build but I think I am maximizing the power where I can. I have not put a drive into the selection on this since I have a lot I would just move over. But I was playing with the Idea of some solid state drives.
This is my build from Newegg.com and I can share a link to it if you want.

Most of what you ahve there I've been looking at as well. Drop the 8 gigs of ram and pick up 32 though.
I'll have to dig my machine up again and post it here.

I get that its a cheap Gigwatt PSU but still... rosewill will never power a rig built by me. I don't spend money to watch my PSU pop and fry all my parts.. You don't need all that power unless your going to SLI so find a smaller name brand trust worthy PSU for 130 or less.
Also, unless your seriously planning on overclocking which most people don't because over time its just going to be a hassle, save yourself the 30 bucks and get the locked core i7 2600.
Well I run a number or HD's I have 5 in my current system as well as a ton of fans and lights. I like it pretty. I was planning on also running SLI when I can buy a second drive.
I haven't had any issue with Rosewill.
Actually that ram is 2x8gigs so it is priced for 16gigs. Or you could go 32 but for me that would be overkill! haha
I tend to try to future proof as much as possible. Syn, I've been out of the building game for sometime. What's the difference between the two processors.
I man generally I think in caveman lingo.... "Bigger number mean better"

The only difference is one has a locked core and can't be overclocked like the one I picked. You can save a couple bucks on it. I like to leave the option there incase.
Exaclty what Dedmon said. The only difference between 2600 and 2600k is the 2600k's mulitplier is unlocked so in your bios you could choose to overclock it. I assure you, you'll not need to do this with tor. I have a 2600 and and nvidia 570 and the Ctr+shft+f in game FPS numbers are always green meaning my GPU is limiting my FPS and not my processor. The 2600 by itself is a BEAST. It doesn't need to be overclocked IMHO.
A few things .
1) Do not buy a bulldozer . I own one and its not as bad as the rap it gets online , my performance is up from my phenom II x6 . However the 8150 is $280 and a good mobo is $100 so your looking at $380 . The i5 2500k is faster in the majority of benchmarks and you can get it at micro center for $170 and you can get a similar board for $150-$170. I'd only buy a bulldozer if you currently have an AM3+ capable board .
2) Buy a high quality power supply. Look at the corsair ones that are around $150-$200 You don't need crazy wattage if your running a single card. I have a bulldozer @ 4.8ghz which uses the most power out of any cpu even the new sandy bridge e chips and i have two radeon 6950s and i don't even come close to using my 620w power supply . All the rails are stable and there is never droppage. Buy quality not quanity . Like i said look at the corsair professional series . I've had the 620w for 5 years now. I'm going to upgrade to a 850w supply , i was thinking corsair again or nzxt
3)I know you hate AMD for video cards so I wont try and sell you on them. I will only say this , the end of the month AMD is going to release the 7950 which is the follow up to the 7970 of course. This gpu is going to be slightly faster than the gtx 580 while using alot less power. Now what happened is when hte 7970 came out at $550 nvidia was forced to drop the 3gig 580s to $550 and under. When the 7950 comes out it too will be a 3gig card and it will be faster than the 3 gig 580s . So nvidia will have to drop the 3 gig 580s down again to the $450 range . So the 580s , 570s , 560s , radeon 6970s , 50s , 68x0 series will all be droping in price in the early days of febuary. Since its already the 19th of the month , i'd wait on buying a video card if I were you . The gtx 560 which is sitting at $200 to $250 will drop to $150 i'd wager.
AMD's 78x0 series will be based on the 69x0 series. They are moving the chips to 28nm and clocking them higher. they will use even less power and perform even better . This will put even more presure on Nvidia as the 5x0 series is on 40nm and was already bigger than the 40nm 69x0 series.
Its really a bad time to buy a video card , esp on the nvidia side. I'm not saying nvidia makes bad cards , its just that AMD is moving to 28nm and with a process drop you get to put more tranistors in a smaller place using less power. So we have a sizable shift in performance / power that nvidia wont replicate until late june according to current leaks. So it basicly gives AMD this quarter to be top dog in every aspect of the market . Nivida will hit back in June and I expect it to play out just like this gen. Nvidia has the fastest single gpu card but its very power hungry and then AMD has a card about 10-15% slower but uses much less power.
Although people report really good overclocking with the 7970
Remember that geforce is overclocked.
So its very possible AMD can release a new sku after the new geforce products and could actually have the fastest single gpu avalible this gen. I will say this however , the card uses even more power than the gtx 580s when clocked that high
I dream big. You should too
Well as of right now
I'm going for the 2600k I like the idea of being able to overclock if I want to.
I was looking at the bulldozer but the reviews on it are just not where I am comfortable to spend the money.
As for the graphics card, I really want to believe that an ATI car wouldn't fail me but, I can't its happened twice and I can't get behind them. I love their pricing though.
So I am going for a 2gig 560.
Board I am going with Asus it supports up to 32 gigs of RAM (AMD based boards there is not one out yet that supports that high RAM and PCIe 3.0.
I'm trying to future proof my build. Usually after a year of a build I upgrade RAM and video cards. Two years after that I go for Process or and Board. Unfortunately this time, I am behind on the RAM so I can't upgrde just the Board and process or I have to go all out.
Who's to say the devil does not exist? “Anarchy! Revolution, Justice, Screaming For Solutions, Forcing Changes, Risk, and Danger, Making Noise
What mobo for the i7 2600k supports 32 gigs of ram? I believe all those boards only have 4 dim slots and with current capacity at 4 gig sticks your looking at 4x4 = 16 gigs .
Its Sandy Bridge E that supports 32 gigs . 8 banks of 4 gigs memory.
Aside from that your not going to future proof. 2013 marks DDR 4's release with point to point memory and no more channels as we know them.
As for The 560 gt. Like I said , its the 25th of January , on the 31st of January AMD is releasing 5 more video cards so prices of Both product lines will drop in price.
Nvidia also just got called out on Shilling . Apparently they were paying people to post rumors in the forums on the new cards being $30 and when they would be out

FOr those of us who don't speak English here is the hardocp posts on it

But I understand you don't want AMD , I'd still wait for the new AMD cards because come the end of the month the geforce gtx 560s will be a $150 card if that.
Right now we have the Radeon 7970 @ 550
After the 31st
Radeon 7950 3gb @ 450
Radeon 7950 1.5GB @ 400
Radeon 7890 @ 360
Radeon 7850 @ 275
So the current line up from both companys will be forced to change as these will all be more powerful than the cards in their price range.
Now the radeon 7850 @ 275 is faster than the radeon 6970.
The 6970 is $350 right now and is faster than the gtx 560 . So with a video card on that performance in the $270 price range the gtx 560 wont be able to compete at its current $200-$250 price point
I dream big. You should too
You should lookup micro center it's in st David's anything tech you would want i build all my comps there better than online pricing andthey have experts
30 mins north of wc
Just a heads up . The 7950 was released today at $450
http://www.anandtech.com/show/5476/amd-radeon-7950-review/6
Its also faster than the geforce gtx 580. So expect the gtx 580 to drop under $450 bucks in the comming days . The 1.5 gig gtx 580s are already down to $469.
I dream big. You should too
