So I noticed that no one had posted in this part of the forum in a while. Has anyone else read Revan? I think I heard JJ mention he didn't like it on a podcast but I could be wrong.
I liked it. The history of the emperor was the most interesting part of the book. Don't want to get into spoiled but I also liked the ending. Solid read IMO.

I've yet to get my hands on a copy. *cough*DavidBasshookmeupwithEreaderversion*cough*
Color me corrected!
It really tied things together well.

Started reading it, loving it so far. Drew Karpyshyn is by far my favorite author.

While not everyone loved the direction that took in books 2 and 3, I think his Bane trilogy might be the best SWEU work that's been done in quite some time. Paul S. Kemp is giving him a run for his money though. Crosscurrent was surprisingly good, and Deceived as excellent. I'm thinking of re-reading it and Fatal Alliance (which I didn't care for) in preparation for the game's release.
Have they announced any of the TOR related books that I've missed? I know Karpyshyn is writing another one.

I'm about 3/4 of the way through it. It's on par with "Deceived" and the Bane Trilogy. I find the best part to be all the internal references to Kotor 1 and 2. It is nice to tie loose ends together. I highly recommend getting it on Audiobook simply because it's so much more dramatic. Moreover, you get to hear T3-M4 chirp which always brings a smile to my face.

Yeah I already read it and loved it. I ties in the KOTOR Games in with TOR
I have the pre-draft, actual copy, and audio book x). Still have to sent the pre-draft back to Samm...But it's a fantastic book, not QUITE as good as his previous books, but it was good. Deceived, as well, was probably better to me. It was a good read, though! Really well written, as is what can be expected of the man who signed my arm.
I just finished reading Revan and decided that the logical progression was to jump into Deceived. I'm having kind of a problem tying the two together. I noticed there is ~300 years of gap between the two and I just wondered if there was any information out there about the events in between the two novels? Maybe SWTOR will help fill in the gaps?
“Always two there are, a master and an apprentice.” - Grand Master Yoda
I imagine so. There's story where you run into Revan on both the Republic and the Empire side, somewhere in there it ought to tie up some loose ends from the book.
I wonder if you have to play both factions to get the entire story...

I wasn't a fan of Fatal Alliance, either...it might have been good if I just listened to it, but the grammar often was poor, lots of mistakes despite being edited, and I still have no idea what any of the characters look like...the Droids on the cover look NOTHING like he described them in the book, so they obviously can't be the droids I'm looking for.
Just finished Revan. I found a bit too much of it sappy and cliche, but there were some great bits.
But is it just me, or does 'fleshing out' Revan's character like this make him far less awesome? At one point he was a mysterious dark hero with unfathomable motives. Yet this book paints him as an ordinary man. Yay? Though this book did make me very interested in the Emperor.
To me Revan doesn't come any way near the Bane series They're still my favourite Star Wars books, especially that glorious first instalment. I hope Drew Karpyshyn writes another epic like that :D
I can agree that this isn't as great as the Bane novels. Deceived is my favorite fictional book of all time, but the Bane series together make for my favorite series.
I think they wanted to flesh out his character to make him less of a legend, but more of something we can reason with eventually no longer existing/dying. Killing a legend is horrific, but it's easier to accept his death if we know he's lived his life to it's fullest extent (or to its most miserable extend, in the case of the book). He's had his influence, and he's obviously very intelligent and strong despite just being a man. I'm fine with how his story goes in the game (not going to spoil it), much more so because of this book than before I read it.
Finished it about a week ago, both my wife and I read it (she actually finished it before me). It was the final test to see if we would name our son revan, and we're good to go! We both enjoyed it very much :)
Finished it today. The ending had me have an extreme "WTF just happened" thought going through my head.

omfg the exile got killed.... wtf. I LIKED my exile character, I was kind of more attached to him (her cannon = whatever) than I was to revan and to have him die in such a nonchalant way seems to kind of treat the character as throw away. I wonder what others thought of that who read through it, did it bother you? did anyone care? To me it's like seeing bioware try and kill off a character like Mordin solace from mass effect 2 or something, just why do that ?
here is a fantastic little piece of dialogue from Mical - the disciple from kotor 2 about the exile
"…and where they look at you and see the death of the Force, I look at you and see hope for all life."
